About WindSwept Farms
After considerable research (ok, I am a CPA... by definition I was going to review this investment thoroughly) Jack & I purchased the beginning of our herd and brought them to their new homes. Anita dreaming of living on a farm and Jack being raised on a farm has defined our endeavor with enthusiasm and reality. One reality we agree on is "we continue to grow more enamored with these animals every day".
We heard many times as we were exploring alpacas about "The Alpaca Lifestyle". We now understand what that means! Although we currently both work outside the farm full-time, the stress relief offered by the animals and simple farm chores after a day at the office is amazing.
We look forward to sharing our farm, our animals and the Alpaca adventure with you! Please contact WindSwept Farms Alpacas for a farm visit soon...

Anita Greider Co-owner of WindSwept Farms, and the "accountant".
Anita was raised in a small town in southern Indiana while always dreaming of living on a farm. She attended Indiana University, obtained her degree as a CPA and moved to Indianapolis. The positive of living in the city is she met Jack!
After they were married, they moved back to the southern part of the state and Anita loved being home. However, after several years their desire to live in the midst of family led to the move to the north. This southern girl is acclimating to the change. Her love of family and her animals is fulfilling.
Although dogs were her first passion, after a short affair with horses, and after much research, she knew that alpacas would be their future. The "accountant" in her understands the viability of the alpaca business venture and the animal lover was simply captivated by the creatures themselves. So, the adventure began.
Although the set up of their dream farm is consuming, Anita returned to full time employment as Finance Director of a local company. She finds that the evening chores with the animals can be a great stress reliever! The reward of the farm lifestyle is hard to describe. But anytime you wish to "talk alpaca" then she will try!

Jack Greider Co-owner of WindSwept Farms, and the farm layout designer.
Jack was raised in the country outside of North Webster Indiana. He worked on the family farm where they raised livestock, hay, and grain. Daily chores and hand milking cattle were not his favorite memories! When he married Anita in 1987 he explained he didn't care to "farm" or "do daily chores with livestock" again.
For the first 17 years of their marriage, Jack and Anita lived in the Brown County area of Southern Indiana and raised English Springer Spaniel dogs. All discussions of Anita's desire to have livestock dredged up vivid memories of iced up water and cold hands and feet. Seven alpacas and a llama later, Jack & Anita began WindSwept Farms in Brown County.
Jack's wish to move 'home" to northern Indiana led to job changes and the search for the perfect farm to raise Alpacas.
In December 2004 WindSwept Farms relocated from Southern Indiana to the 36-acre Churubusco location of today. Jack's "I don't want to do daily chores" has been long since forgotten, the Alpaca herd is ever growing and he wouldn't have it any other way. After a few months of raising these wonderful creatures he found it to be so relaxing that he soon forgot all reservations. His largest disappointment at this time is the amount of travel demanded by his present job. He is looking forward to the time when he is home every day and can actively participate in the day-to-day farm work.
Jack's philosophy for success is:
Personally: To age gracefully, be respected in life and independent in retirement.
And for WindSwept Farms: To build a successful and respected business in the community while providing jobs which may enable others to achieve their goals in life.
